Why each part matters
- Invoice number: unique and in order, so both sides can find it later.
- Dates: the invoice date and a specific due date remove doubt about when to pay.
- Both parties: a legal name and address for the client helps their accounts team.
- Line items: specific descriptions get approved faster than “design work”.
- Totals: show the subtotal, any tax and the total due separately.
- Payment details: tell them exactly how to pay and what reference to use.
