How it works
Each grade has a value on the 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0). Multiply each course’s grade value by its credits to get grade points, add them up and divide by the total credits: GPA = total grade points ÷ total credits.
Schools use different scales, plus and minus values and weighting for honours courses, so check your own institution’s rules.
Example
A 3-credit A, a 4-credit B and a 3-credit C give (12 + 12 + 6) ÷ 10 = 3.00.
