Turn any title or phrase into a clean, web-friendly slug. It lowercases the text, removes accents and punctuation, and joins the words with hyphens or underscores.
How it works
The text is split into characters, accents are removed (for example é becomes e), letters and numbers are lowercased and kept, and every run of other characters becomes a single separator. Separators at the start and end are trimmed. Short, descriptive slugs are easier to read and share, and hyphens are the usual choice for web addresses.
