How it works
Choose an image and the tool loads it in your browser, draws it onto a canvas at the size you choose, and saves the result in the format you pick. Nothing is uploaded to a server. With “Keep proportions” on, changing the width sets the height automatically so the picture is not stretched. JPG and WebP use the quality slider: lower quality means a smaller file.
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas become white when you save as JPG. PNG keeps transparency but files are usually larger.
Tips
- Converting JPG to PNG does not restore detail lost when the JPG was made, but it stops further quality loss when you re-save.
- PNG files are larger than JPG for photos.
- PNG is useful when you want to edit an image repeatedly without extra compression.
