How it works
Metric: litres used = distance × L/100 km ÷ 100. US: gallons used = miles ÷ mpg. UK: litres used = miles ÷ mpg × 4.54609. Trip cost is the fuel used multiplied by the price per unit. A round trip doubles the distance.
Real fuel use depends on speed, load, traffic and driving style, so treat the result as an estimate. Tolls and parking are not included.
Example
A 120 km trip at 7.5 L/100 km uses 9 litres. At 1.60 a litre the cost is 14.40, or 7.20 each for two people.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert mpg to L/100 km?
For US mpg, divide 235.215 by the mpg. For UK mpg, divide 282.481 by the mpg.
Does it include tolls?
No. Only fuel.
How can I use less fuel?
Drive smoothly, keep tyres inflated, remove roof racks and avoid carrying extra weight.
